June 8, 2016INSTAGRAM POST: An atypical longer share from me, I hope you take the time to read… This week I’m taking refuge in a sentence I read by Chani Nicholas @chaninicholas “In the center of yourself is calm”. Last night I was able to take a class with my good friend and fellow teacher Ellen Mosko @ellenmosko Being able to have that time to be a student and let all my other roles fall to the side (mother, wife, maker of dinner ????, etc.) was so pivotal in my evening and into my today. Ellen reminded me just by showing up and being present for us as a teacher, that I could do the same thing in her class and really reap the benefits of her wisdom. I could also show up this way in the rest of my life for my family, friends and folks that come to classes. She reminded me that I can “carry on the calm”. This morning I taught to a lovely group of students that were willing to embrace my offering and created a space of calm for themselves even when I got nit-picky with their poses (I can’t help it I’m an alignment teacher). For me studentship to yoga is grounding and calming. It’s sets a rhythm within that is steady and kinder. I greatly benefit when I can go to a class with a teacher I trust and step confidently into her or his classroom and soak in what is being offered and take it home for more absorption. I know this is the case for many of those that come to my classes and share their experiences with me. Ellen and I are co-teaching a couple of things in the near and not quite so near future: • 6/26 Prop Your Asana at Align Amar Yoga @alignamaryoga • October 2016 – May 2017 Elevate Yoga 200 Hr Teacher Training @elevateyoga with the fantastic Jamie Hanley. *****Info session on 6/25 11-1pm led by me and @jamiehanleyeryt To embrace being a student invites us all to become better at seeing, embodying and living through our best qualities and wisest selves.
